Biography

Dr. D. J. Lee holds advanced degrees in electrical engineering and business administration. He is a distinguished teacher, researcher, inventor, and entrepreneur with over a decade of experience in the machine vision industry prior to joining BYU in 2001. Currently serving as Professor and Director of the Robotic Vision Laboratory in the ECE Department, Dr. Lee co-founded Smart Vision Works, Inc. in 2012, focusing on AI-based smart cameras for agricultural and food inspection. In July 2023, he established Authentiface, Inc. to commercialize Facial Motion Authentication technology developed at BYU. His research interests encompass artificial intelligence, high-performance visual computing, robotic vision, and automated visual inspection.
