Biography

Dr. Manwaring earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering from BYU and completed doctoral studies in engineering sciences with biomedical emphasis at Dartmouth. His initial academic research concentrated on disease monitoring and diagnostics related to hydrocephalus, breast cancer, and traumatic brain injury. After leaving academia, he spent thirteen years in the MedTech sector, including work at a startup focused on surgical energy technology, consulting positions, and a senior principal engineer role at Johnson and Johnson MedTech (Ethicon) developing advanced visualization technologies for surgical applications. His present research emphasizes diagnostic healthcare tools for low- and middle-income countries, encompassing medical device development, healthcare delivery improvement, and medical device security.
